Extreme Heat Warning issued June 30 at 1:40AM EDT until July 2 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MI * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105. * WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west central Michigan. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Piers may be heavily swamped by waves. * WHERE...Mason, Oceana, Muskegon and Ottawa counties. * WHEN...Through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local authorities on potential beach closures.
