Extreme Heat Warning issued July 4 at 3:55AM EDT until July 4 at 9:00PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions continue with heat index values peaking around 105 degrees in many locations today. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, and southeast Kentucky. * WHEN...Until 9 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Flood Advisory issued July 4 at 9:36AM EDT until July 4 at 10:45AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Clay and Knox. * WHEN...Until 1045 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 933 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heaviest rain had exited the area; however, between 1.5 and 2.5 inches have fallen since 7:30 AM. Excessive runoff will continue to cause minor flooding in low lying areas through 10:30 AM. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Barbourville, Manchester, Ogle, Jonsee, Park Valley, House, Cottongin, Woollum, Haven, Hammond, Bluehole, Fount, Goose Rock, Botto, Boho, Green Road, Horse Creek Junction, Barnyard, Girdler and Hinkle. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
