Hinkson Creek at Columbia. Moreau River near Jefferson City. River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 24 hours. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Moreau River near Jefferson City. * WHEN...From this afternoon to late Wednesday night. * IMPACTS...At 23.5 feet, Near this height, Walnut Acres Road near North Moreau Creek will likely need to be closed. This road is 18.3 river miles upstream of the gage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 6.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 26.3 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor this developing situation and issue follow up statements as conditions change. Flood Watch issued June 7 at 9:51PM CDT until June 8 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS St Louis MO * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of central Missouri, including the following areas, Boone MO, Callaway MO, Cole MO, Moniteau MO and Osage MO. * WHEN...Through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall are expected across the watch area through Monday morning. Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible with locally higher amounts which could result in flash flooding where soils are already moistening. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
