Air Quality Alert issued June 19 at 3:40AM EDT by NWS Wilmington OH The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared an Air Action Day, from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Levels of ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. On Alert days, help reduce ozone by taking the following actions: * Carpool, if possible, bike, walk or take the bus instead of driving alone. * Refuel your vehicle after 8 pm. * Do not idle your vehicle, exhaust contributes to air pollution. * Mow your lawn in the evening hours and avoid the use of gas-powered lawn equipment. Heat Advisory issued June 19 at 3:37AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington OH * WHAT...A prolonged period of dangerously hot conditions with heat index values near 100 degrees. * WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, southwest, and west central Ohio. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...The combination of excessive heat due to temperatures in the 90s and high humidity will increase the threat of heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, make use of air-conditioning, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors, especially those that may have underlying health conditions. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
