Special Weather Statement issued June 24 at 2:46AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL Heat and humidity will build today, especially for areas in southeastern Iowa into far northeastern Missouri into west-central Illinois. Heat index readings will rise to between 95 to near 100 degrees this afternoon and early evening. If you plan to spend time outdoors this afternoon and evening, be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and take frequent breaks in shaded areas or in an air conditioned building. Also, be sure to look before you lock! Don't leave your pets or kids in parked vehicles.
